Toilet paper procurement checklist
- Usage context: record users, opening days, toilets and peak periods.
- Measured usage: count opened rolls for at least four weeks. Do not compare only the number of rolls per box.
- Roll specifications: compare ply, sheet count, sheet dimensions, total roll length and core size.
- Material: request the fibre composition and verify whether claims such as bamboo, recycled or tree-free are substantiated.
- Certification: verify the exact label type, licence code and product scope. A logo without a verifiable code is insufficient.
- Production: ask where the pulp and finished product are made and which energy, water and emissions data are available.
- Additives: check information about bleaching, fragrances, dyes and lotions.
- Packaging: compare primary wrapping, outer box and filling material by both material and quantity.
- Logistics: compare delivery frequency, minimum order, box or pallet utilisation and the risk of urgent shipments.
- Cost per use: calculate weekly cost or cost per 100 user-days, including delivery, storage and waste.
- Practical test: test comfort, strength, dissolvability and dispenser compatibility before a large order.
- Review: after eight to twelve weeks, compare measured usage, complaints, stock-outs and total cost with the forecast.
